Bubble.io · AI in 2026

Building with the Bubble AI Agent is faster than ever. Here is what it handles well, what still needs a human, and how to avoid the common traps.

Bubble’s AI Agent lets you build and change an app by describing what you want in plain language, alongside the usual drag-and-drop editor. It is one of the most talked-about no-code developments of the past year, and founders are understandably asking: if an agent can build my app, do I still need a developer?

The honest answer is that it depends on what you are building and what is at stake. This guide explains what the Agent does, where it is strong, where human judgment still matters, and how to get the best results from it.

What the Bubble AI Agent is

Bubble introduced the Agent in beta in October 2025 as a way to build production-grade apps either visually or conversationally. Since then it has been extended to native mobile apps, to setting up connections with outside services through APIs, and to fixing issues flagged in the app automatically. Bubble has described it as still being in beta, and has been widening access to existing apps through 2026, so check your own editor and Bubble’s announcements for what is available to you today.

Where it is genuinely useful

  • Scaffolding pages and a first version of the data types.
  • Making repeated interface changes quickly.
  • Setting up simple workflows and common patterns.
  • Clearing routine issues the editor flags.
  • Letting a non-technical founder explore an idea before spending money.

Because what it builds stays visual and editable inside Bubble, your project is not locked into a black box. That is a real advantage over tools that output code only a developer can read.

Where human judgment still decides the outcome

AreaWhy it still needs an experienced person
ScopeAn agent builds what you ask for. Deciding what the first version should and should not contain is a business decision.
Data architectureHow information is structured and linked affects speed, cost and every future feature.
Privacy rulesWho can see which data must be designed and tested deliberately, especially with client information.
Performance and costInefficient searches and workflows raise your Bubble usage bill. See workload units.
IntegrationsPayments, email and accounting tools have edge cases that only show up when something fails.
Testing and launchSomeone has to verify the app behaves correctly with real scenarios before customers arrive.

In short, the Agent speeds up construction. It does not remove the need to decide what to construct or to verify the result.

Write the plan before you write the prompt

The quality of what an agent builds tracks the quality of what you tell it. Vague prompts produce plausible but shallow apps. A written plan produces a far better start. Before prompting, write down:

  1. The user roles and what each can do.
  2. The five or fewer core flows of the first release.
  3. The data types and how they relate.
  4. Any rules, such as “only the assigned lawyer can see this matter.”
  5. What is explicitly out of scope for now.

That is the heart of a Product Requirements Document, and it is the same material our Discovery Sprint produces for you in 24 hours.

A review checklist for anything an agent builds

  • Log in as two different users and confirm neither can see the other’s data.
  • Log in as the lowest-permission role and try every restricted action.
  • Check that no private keys or secrets are exposed in the page.
  • Test failure cases: a declined payment, a bad email address, a cancelled action.
  • Look at the data structure and confirm nothing is duplicated.
  • Keep a separate test version and make changes there first.

Three sensible ways to use it

  1. DIY prototype, then expert review. Explore your idea with the Agent, then have an experienced developer check and complete it before real users arrive.
  2. Plan first, build with an expert. Start with a PRD, and let an experienced developer use every tool available, including AI, to build against it.
  3. Expert-led, founder-assisted. You make small content and interface changes after launch; an expert handles anything touching data, logic or integrations.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Agent build my whole product?

It can build a lot, particularly a first version. Whether the result is safe and maintainable for real customers depends on the scope, the data design and the review that follows.

Is it free?

Bubble has described the Agent as free to use during beta. Pricing and availability can change, so check Bubble’s current announcements.

Does it replace Bubble developers?

It changes how developers work, mostly by speeding up the routine parts. Planning, architecture, security and testing remain the valuable parts.

Should I use it before talking to you?

If you want to, yes. A working prototype helps us understand what you want. Just do not launch it to real customers before it has been reviewed.
